Carolyn Curtis - Author, Editor, Speaker

Oxbridge was fantastic! Imagine nearly two weeks in England with hundreds of C.S. Lewis aficionados at Oxford and Cambridge. Here I am with Nan Salinas and others. Oxbridge is far more than a tri-annual conference. It’s a community of fun, literate, deep–thinking people drawn together by their attraction to the Joy so ably described by Lewis – that joyful experience of the Divine among us as believers. My professional mission is to use my communication gifts of authoring and editing books and articles, speaking to audiences on writing and the publishing industry plus related skills to serve the Lord. Here's a sampling of my recent and upcoming work...
Authoring/Editing
I'm collaborating on three books with a new author and editing a book for another author -- all exciting projects!
I collaborated with Carole Lewis, best-selling author and national director of First Place 4 Health, on Hope 4 You. I edited Steve Noble's excellent book, The Making of a Christian Wacko. Steve is chairman of Called2Action and a popular radio host in North Carolina. I also edited a memoir by Georgia’s sought-after speaker and storyteller, Fiona Page, My Nightlife is 24/7: Turning Tragedy to Triumph.
I was invited to be an on-going columnist by our daily newspaper, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. I write on assignment for publications such as On Mission and ByFaith. My cover story for ByFaith (“Ministry that Gets Messy”) won the First Place award in the freelance category at the Evangelical Press Association convention.
Another ByFaith article that drew reader interest was "Transforming Neighborhoods by Transforming Public Schools."
Speaking
I look forward to speaking at the C.S. Lewis Southwest Regional Retreat & Writers Workshop. Christy Award-winning author Angela Hunt will speak on fiction writing, and I will handle non-fiction.
I moderated a panel discussion among fellow journalists and culture watchers at the Evangelical Press Association convention.
Related activities
I’m committed to mentoring and developing newer authors and editors. I worked in the last year with several new authors in developing their book material and telling their stories, plus I brought two new editors into book projects to help them develop that skill.
I judged two national writing contests, one for fiction and one for journalists.
